Get StartedMeaning of Life Epilogue: Q & A Session (Part 7 of 7)
What Is The Meaning Of Life?
This live webinar was recorded on August 5, 2015. The following questions were addressed, at these approximate timestamps:
1. (8:00) How does understanding the meaning of life meant to practically affect my life? My job, my spouse, etc.
2. (26:30) Can an atheist attain meaning in life?
3. (35:00) How do you respond to religious friends who think life should be based on halacha, not on your (subjective) interpretation of the meaning of life?
4. (47:30) Do women traditionally focus more on World II and men on World I? Would that relate to their separate creations in World II?
5. (54:00) How is Adam and Eve’s broken relationship improved as they leave the garden as intimate enemies, and is there a lesson for us in the aftermath?
6. (59:00) Our "moral compass" clearly doesn’t come from God, or we wouldn’t need the Torah. Are we meant to abandon it and focus solely on Torah?
7. (1:11:30) Can’t the desire for relationships be just as distracting and cause just as much trouble as the desire for creativity?
8. (1:16:20) I relate to World I but have difficulty with World II. Is success in World I enough to fulfill my obligations in World II?
9. (1:25:30) How do you balance World I and World II?
This podcast represents an earlier version of ideas that are further developed in the lecture series A Tale of Two Names: Elokim and YHVH.
